Metal - ology ....

When I think of Metal I automatically think Industrial/Steampunk .... well would be rude not to right!!

This week the team over at Simon Says Stamp & Show are asking us to incorporate some metal into our project.

So my first thoughts were grab a mahoosive #12 Tag from Ranger, some metal foil sheets, some embossing folders and some Black paint. (Any old excuse to play with my Distress Paints lol, if you haven't got them yet ... then you MUST)!! *warning this post is pic heavy*

(Supplies Used)

To begin with choose a selection of embossing folders .... for this project I have gone with the Tim Holtz Alterations Texture Fades (Diamond/Riveted Plate, Subway & Stencil Set & Bubble/Honeycombe Set) which have been embossed using my trusty old Vagabond.

Once embossed, to create that aged effect, paint with Distress Paint (Black Soot), pat dry to remove excess using Kitchen Towel. I also used a sanding block at this point to reveal the underneath layers.

To add a "Patina" effect to the metal I spritzed some Dylusions Spray (Calypso Teal), again blotting off any excess with Kitchen Roll.

Peel back adhesive backing on the foil sheets and start layering onto your tag.

Once you are happy with your layering, trim excess metal around tag.

Next ink edges of Ranger #8 Kraft Tag with Distress Ink (Walnut Stain).

Stamp quote image (one of my favs)  from Tim Holtz "Words For Thought" stamp set using Archival Ink (Jet Black).

Stamp further images in the same way, then splat Dylusions Spray  (Calypso Teal & Black Marble).

Edge outer edges of image using Distress Marker Pen (Black Soot). Stamp from Ringmaster Blueprint set.

I also used a Distress Marker (Pumice Stone) to colour some of the stamped image.

Apply some Distress Paint (Broken China) and then spritz some Calypso Teal whilst the paint is still wet, dry with heat gun before spritzing some Perfect Pearl Mists (Biscotti).

Attach some Ideaology Paper String to tag before fixing to main tag. I've attached the tags/stamped images using Tims Tiny Attacher.

(*some close ups of the tag*)

Well I hope you are still with me after this epic post, and I hope you have enjoyed the step by steps, would love to know what you think. TFL X
