Hello everyone we are having a challenge this week over on the Snazzy Design Team Blog inspired by the newly released Sunrise/Sunset collection by Anna Dawbrowska (aka Finnabair).
The Design Team have come up with some amazing "Inspired By" projects, click HERE to see what they have been up to.
In this months kit we have this gorgeous Mixed Media Journal ..... now I'm no Art Journaller by any shape of the imagination, (wish I was) but what I do love is the textures Anna incorporates into her style of art.
Having been lucky enough to have attended a workshop with Anna (and another full weekend at Snazzy's later this year) WOOP WOOP, I dug out the Gesso, Texture Paste, Paints and Sprays .... oh and a few teabags!
I started out by applying Distress Paints to the journal in Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, Salty Ocean & Wild Honey, make sure you thouroughly dry in between each application so as not to create "mud", these paints do take slightly longer to dry. Arrange your embellishments (in this case teabags lol) and some metal cogs, apply some Matte Medium to secure, then dry. Once dry add a layer of Gesso over the embellishments, dry with heat gun.
Love the effect Texture Paste gives through a stencil. I have used Studio 490 Embossing Paste and the 6x6 Checker stencil from the Sunrise/Sunset Collection
Then let the "spritzing" begin .... I've used the following Dylusions Sprays to build up the depths of colours .... Calypso Teal, Pure Sunshine, Lemon Zest, Cut Grass, White Linen & Black Marble.
This certainly requires patience in terms of drying time but the overall effect IMO is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G
To finish off I've added some Tim Holtz Ideaology Remnant Rub Ons.

Gillian this looks fantastic - love the texture, and the colours too. Hope to see you on Saturday... am on a countdown now!
Like Helen I love all the texture too Gillian and the colours are stunning. I would never have thought of using teabags to create texture, lol! How I'm looking forward to learning these techniques in a few months time!
