close up of inside birdcage
I knew as soon as I saw this Bird Cage in a local Charity shop window, I had to have it. It would be perfect for my Guest Host theme of "Rust" at Mixed Media Monday.
The Bird Cage originally started off white. Firstly I sanded down the cage before adding Patina Ageing solutions, sanded some more then added a mixture of Glimmer Mist Copper and Distress Ink Tea Dye. I recently purchased this great bag of moss and the feathers from my other half's fishing shop lol, for the inside of the cage, and the Birds from Retro Cafe Art were just perfect. The lace and Rusty heart were part of a surprise birthday gift all the way from the U.S, thank you so much Jan, you can see some of Jan's delightful art over at her etsy shop here
And last but not least an appearance by 0ne of penny's beautiful Head Pins.

AMAZING!! Really unique, I love the way you have aged the cage and made a nest inside. This really should be in Somerset Studio or something. It certainly deserves to be published!

very nicely done
Very nice - and odd, sort of that I chose a bird cage. I had one once and gave it away...the girls were so happy to have it, but I've always wanted another one.
Beautiful work!
